Who is more generous and caring – Dogs or People?

I have always known that dogs are smart but there is another characteristic that is deeply seeded in the canine soul – compassion.

I know no other animal than a dog to jump to the rescue of his friends so selflessly and without thinking twice if their life is in danger.

My dog  Skai regularly jumps to my rescue when I am swimming despite the fact that he much prefers a pasture to the ocean.   I have seen dogs grieving their best friends,  I have seen them protecting or saving  children and I have  also heard of stories where a dog ran to get help when their friends were injured.

As I am thinking of all the different situations,  I can’t  help myself  thinking that dogs are in fact the most evolved life form on this planet.   They without  a doubt are the masters  in showing us what love and compassion really is as you can see from the videos bellow.

All I  want to do today is to say one big  thank you to those dogs and humans who care… and make the lives of others safer and better.

With gratitude,

UPDATE – INDIANA continues to improve

Friday, October 14th, 2011

Hi everyone,

many of you have been following the story of Indiana, the dog of our client Karen from Toronto.  Several weeks back, Karen was told by her local vet to put Indiana down. Even a panel of 5 veterinary specialists thought that Indy must had had cancer metastases since he was diagnosed with organ lymphoma 18 months ago. To their surprise they found nothing and  Karen kindly shared her story with us.  If she didn’t go with the voice of her heart, Indy would not be alive.

If  you have not read the original article,  click here first before you go on reading the lines below.  Otherwise, here is the update:

Dear friends,

Indiana has been improving each and every day.  It has now been 4 weeks since his fall, and although we had a few rough days at the beginning, he has regained his balance and is walking and standing up with ease.  I continue to stick close to him when he is walking in the garden and when he walks up the garden steps, in case he becomes unsteady.  He wants to run/trot to the house when he knows his breakfast is waiting, but much to his disappointment, I slow him down.

This week he has been rolling over on to his back, and sometimes all the way over.  He will point his belly to whichever direction there is the likely chance of getting a belly rub.  (How could anyone possibly pass up that chance?)  He did have a few days early on when eating seemed to hurt a little, and he left some of his veggies behind (although all meat and bones were gobbled up), but he is making up for any lost nibbles this week and he is enjoying his larger portions.

He continues to see our Chiropractor for some small adjustments and laser treatments once a week.  Along with daily massage and “association point work.”  I have been working in the areas that Peter showed me this winter when I was in Vancouver.  I massage them and breath deeply when doing so and  seems to have really helped.

He is also getting Neuroplex glandular supplement and his homeopathic remedy to help the body heal.

I think Indiana has enjoyed the extra attention and fussing, and he has taken each day in stride.  It is a valuable lesson he has taught me.  Take it one moment at a time, and be present in each moment.

I am most grateful and overjoyed to say, I still have my HAPPY and LOVABLE INDIANA by my side!  He is full of life!

Much love, Karen

Following your heart may save your dog’s life.

Making the best treatment decision for your pet.

Does it happen to you that each month or week has a certain theme? It seems that the Universe decides what the lesson should be and then serves us ample opportunities to learn and grow.

This week, the lesson is about following our heart.

Some of you may know that in addition to teaching about disease and cancer prevention, doing webinars and developing innovative supplements and natural care products; I still like to consult with a handful of clients to keep in touch with medicine and healing.

One of the common situations I see is that my new or even established clients who live out side of Vancouver need to use the services of my conventional colleagues.

I believe that 99% of vets have the intention of helping their patients, however even then the recommendations given can arise from a personal point of view.

Today, I would like to share a story with you that I hope will encourage you to go with your heart whenever you (more…)

I have a full day of  editing a video on holistic approach to  allergies ahead and I should definitely not be getting distracted,  however, I  couldn’t  resist a little facebook note from my friend Julie Anne.

The note said: “Peter,  watch this video!”   So I did  and I can’t  resist  to share this  incredible story with you.  Be prepared and have tissue ready.

Amazing Documentary – THE MIRACLE OF DOGS and why they may have the key to cancer cure in humans.

Monday, May 2nd, 2011

A few weeks ago,  my yoga buddies came  to Maui to attend a yoga retreat. I wanted to show them around and decided to go to see a beautiful bamboo forrest nearby. As the our group was preparing to embark on the journey, one of the group, Cathleen, saw Skai on the back seat of my car and said: ” Oh, I forgot, I don’t  love dogs. I better go in the other car.”

First, I was rather  upset over her quite rude comment. Her ignorance and lack of tact amazed me. Then I started to feel sorry for her because I knew that she was missing out on one of the most amazing gifts that humans ever got.  The miracle of dogs.

Just yesterday, I came across this amazing documentary and  remembered Cathleen’s comments. I decided to send her the link and also write this blog.

This documentary shows that dogs are truly unique and they have evolved along side humans like no other (more…)

Raw food can transform your dog

Monday, February 14th, 2011

One of our readers, Lisa Snyders,  has shared her experience with raw food and I thought  it would be nice to share it:

“I started feeding raw to my 2 dogs 10 years ago. One a 7 year old basset had just quit eating. We could find nothing wrong with her other than she would not eat. At the same time our then 8 year old blue heeler/shepard cross had become extremely aggressive and we were thinking we would be putting both dogs down. Thankfully a friend of a friend suggested we try a raw diet.

At that point we were willing to try anything. Our basset immediately started eating again and slowly put weight back on. Our other dog took to the food right away, though her transformation was a little slower. After only 2 months, there were huge differences in both dogs. The basset was eating, energetic and just happy, The heelerX had calmed down considerably and was no longer acting in an aggressive manner, as she was no longer being poisoned by her food. In the end we had another 7 years with both dogs.

At the ages of 14 (basset) and 15 (heelerX) we said goodbye. Never an easy thing to do, but it was easier knowing we had been able to double the years they spent with us, and they were good years. We now have 4 other mixed breed dogs,  and we feed all of them a raw, natural diet!

Why to feed raw dog food – The magic school bus through the digestive tract.

Wednesday, February 9th, 2011

I have always loved the cleverness of the “Magic School Bus” – one of the most ingenious educational programs to date. Today, I would like to invite you on a journey through the digestive tract of two very different groups; herbivores and carnivores to see why nature, unlike processed food junk companies, believes that raw food is the way to go. If you yourself unsure about raw food or have a friend who you try to educate. This blog post may be helpful.

Lets look at the cow – a herbivore. It has three fore stomachs and one stomach to digest and ferment plant material, grain and fiber. A horse represents a slight variation of this design. For a horse it would be very hard to run fast with a big fore stomach full of food. Instead, horses have a large colon that also digests and ferments plant material and fiber.

The digestive tract of carnivores is very different. It is shorter, equipped with a smaller but stronger stomach and relatively short intestines. The digestive glands of the stomach and especially pancreas are larger and produce large amounts of protein digestive enzymes. Carnivores do not have the ability to process fiber through fermentation as well as herbivores. (more…)

Cancer Update from John Hopkins University

Saturday, October 23rd, 2010

I love my friend  Hilda because she is such an infinite source of wisdom.  She has sent me this information and  I would like to share it with you.

The truth is that your  animal friends  can’t  have a  good life without you   being healthy.

That  is  why this blog very much belongs on the holistic animal healing blog.  So many animals  lose their  humans    to cancer and here is  what you  can  do to prevent it.

With gratitude,

1. Every person has cancer cells in the body. These cancer cells do not show up in the standard tests until they have multiplied to a few billion. When doctors tell cancer patients that there are no more cancer cells in their bodies after treatment, it just means the tests are unable to detect the cancer cells because they have not reached the detectable size.

2. Cancer cells occur between 6 to  10 times in a person’s lifetime.

3. When the person’s immune system is strong the cancer cells will be destroyed and prevented from multiplying and forming tumors.

4. When a person has cancer it indicates the person has nutritional deficiencies. These could be due to genetic, but also to environmental, food and lifestyle factors.

5. To overcome the multiple nutritional deficiencies, changing the diet to eat more adequately and healthy, (4-5 times/day) and by including supplements, it will strengthen the immune system.

6. Chemotherapy involves poisoning the rapidly-growing cancer cells and also destroys rapidly-growing healthy cells in the bone marrow, gastrointestinal tract etc, and can cause organ damage, like liver, kidneys, heart, lungs etc.

7.Radiation, while destroying cancer cells,  but also burns, scars and damages healthy cells, tissues and organs.

8. Initial treatment with chemotherapy and radiation will often reduce tumor size. However prolonged use of chemotherapy and radiation do not result in more tumor destruction.

9. When the body has too much toxic burden from chemotherapy and radiation the immune system is either compromised or destroyed, hence the person can succumb to various kinds of infections and complications.

10. Chemotherapy and radiation can cause cancer cells to mutate and become resistant and difficult to destroy. Surgery can also cause cancer cells to spread to other sites.

11. An effective way to battle cancer is to starve the cancer cells by not feeding it with the foods it needs to multiply.

*CANCER CELLS FEED ON:

a. Sugar substitutes like NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc . These are made with Aspartame and it is harmful. A better natural substitute would be Manuka honey or molasses, but only in very small amounts. Table salt has a chemical added to make it white in color. A better alternative is Bragg’s aminos or sea salt.

b. Milk causes the body to produce mucus, especially in the gastro-intestinal tract. Cancer feeds on mucus. By cutting off milk and substituting with unsweetened soy milk, cancer cells are being starved.

c. Cancer cells thrive in an acid environment. A meat-based diet is acidic and it is best to eat fish, and a little other meat, like chicken. Meat also contains livestock antibiotics, growth hormones and parasites, which are all harmful, especially to people with cancer.

d. A diet made of 80% fresh vegetables and juice, whole grains, seeds, nuts and a little fruit helps put the body into an alkaline environment. About 20% can be from cooked food including beans. Fresh vegetable juices provide live enzymes that are easily absorbed and reach down to

cellular levels within 15 minutes to nourish and enhance growth of healthy cells. To obtain live enzymes for building healthy cells try and drink fresh vegetable juice (most vegetables including bean sprouts) and eat some raw vegetables 2 or 3 times a day. Enzymes are destroyed at

temperatures of 104 degrees F (40 degrees C)..

e. Avoid coffee and black tea which have high caffeine.  Green tea is a better alternative and has cancer fighting properties. Water, it is best to drink purified water, or filtered, to avoid known toxins and heavy metals in tap water. Distilled water is acidic, avoid it.

12. Meat protein is difficult to digest and requires a lot of digestive enzymes. Undigested meat remaining in the intestines becomes putrefied and leads to more toxic buildup.

13. Cancer cell walls have a tough protein covering. By refraining from or eating less meat it frees more enzymes to attack the protein walls of cancer cells and allows the body’s killer cells to destroy the cancer cells.

14. Some supplements build up the immune system (IP6, Florescence, Essiac, anti-oxidants, vitamins, minerals, EFAs etc.) to enable the body’s own killer cells to destroy cancer cells.. Other supplements like vitamin E are known to cause apoptosis, or programmed cell death, the body’s

normal method of disposing of damaged, unwanted, or unneeded cells.

15. Cancer is a disease of the mind, body, and spirit. A proactive and positive spirit will help the cancer warrior be a survivor. Anger, un-forgiveness and bitterness put the body into a stressful and acidic environment. Learn to have a loving and forgiving spirit. Learn to relax and enjoy life.

16. Cancer cells cannot thrive in an oxygenated environment. Exercising daily, and deep breathing help to get more oxygen down to the cellular level. Oxygen therapy is another means employed to destroy cancer cells.

A Jack Russell doing house chores – So much fun!

Wednesday, October 20th, 2010

We  do not   have a  TV at home   because some time ago I  decided not  to watch  any  negative  news. If there is  something  important  going on in the world,  I seem to   learn  about  it  from others.

I simply do not like infusing my brain  with the negativity of morning news and prefer  to start my day on a good note.

I sometimes  spend 5 – 10 minutes waking up, reading my friends’  posts on Facebook which is a great  antidote to the  stale and entrenched negativity of TV news.

This morning,   I  found a YouTube video on my niece’s  site.  It shows a Jack Russell  that  was taught to do dozens  of  house  chores. What a dream! Our dogs doing our housework!  I hope that you will laugh as  loud and hard  as  I  did.  From making coffee to putting away laundry,  closing  cabinets and  undressing the owner,  this little dog  is  obviously  passionate about  his job.

What  is the message in this video?

Don’t  forget  to have fun with your dog,  put him or  her to work because dogs love it.

If passion is missing , you may think of  and plan a gradual shift towards something that rocks  your heart and warms your soul. I know it is not easy to change our habits but it is definitely worth it.  That is one of the secrets of health and  longevity for you and your animal friend.

Have  fun watching!

Do YOU feel like being free? A message from your animal friend.

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Have you every thought; what would your dog or cat want you to do if they could speak?

What would it be? Would you work 12 hour days or spend hours in traffic, watching TV or shopping for things that you don’t need?

I invite you to close your eyes and imagine  what would your next  hour, next day or month look  like. Where are you, what are you doing, who are you with? (more…)
